Legendary singer, Barbra Streisand appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday, September 15, 2014 where she sang a medley of duets from her new album “Partners” with Jimmy standing in for Elvis, Blake Shelton, and Michael Bublé.
This was Barbra’s first time in over 50 years appearing on The Tonight Show. Jimmy was so honored that he had the singer sit in his seat. Jimmy joked she probably wouldn’t be back, so she may as well sit there.
Jimmy asked Barbra what she thought of his singing and she told him not to quit his day job. She was joking saying,
“Actually, I’m very impressed with you, my husband (James Brolin) and I watch you all the time and you’re very musical and really good. So I was just making a joke at your expense.”
Jimmy spoke to Barbra about her reputation as a diva and how impressed he was with her timeliness, professionalism and how friendly, the singer really is. Streisand warned everyone not to believe what they read. She also said she is quite ordinary and leads a very simple life. She and her husband stay home most of the time and take little trips – with her truck.
They also spoke about Streisand not performing for 27 years. She spoke about the incident that sparked her silence saying it was a performance in Central Park with more than 100,000 people and it was a scary experience. She forgot the words to three of her songs and didn’t sing again for 27 years.
We have the video of Barbra singing with Jimmy on the next page. Take a listen and let us know what you think.
